    Default regal n' yellow tang

would yall say this is a bad idea for a 75 gal? i have a 2 inch regal in thats been in for about 6 months now. would it be a bad idea to add a yellow the same size or a lil smaller? i wouldnt think they would fight cuz of different color and shape. and ive heard they wont get to there massive 6-8 inch in smaller tanks, think they would reach that in my 75?

A fish maintaining size to fit the aquarium they are in is the most gross and one of the biggest myths spread across this hobby. A fish will grow to its proper size if given a healthy diet and clean habitat. Meaning proper water chemistry. Time and time again, this myth pops up and many argue that it is true. However, truth is truth and a healthy anything will grow to its proper size. As for the tangs being together, I would consider that although this fish is 2 inches, they do get 11 inches and yellow tang over 6 inches (8 inch) and if properly taken care of, can reach adult size in less that 5 yrs. Both tangs are meant to swim across in great lengths so they will at least have to have enough of a path for them to enjoy their swimming habit. I would say yes, but with caution as 75 gallon is not much room for both as they get older and become more territorial.

Take this with a grain of salt because they have only been in the tank together a little over a week

mine actually school together and pretty much stay on one side of the 125 long

in fact my hippo seems happier since the addition

yellow tangs are jerks...you have a better chance since the hippos been in there first and getting a smaller one does help

i have both a hippo and a yellow tang and they do fine together with my 2 percs, firefish, and cleaner wrasse... But the tangs won't let me add another fish, they tore up a naso and a gold rim
