I seem not to care as much anymore. My main tank build has taken longer than I cared for. I've begun countless other projects instead of finishing the one started. Thinking about selling/trading it all off. You probably know what I've got and if interested feel free to make offers. I might just astonish you with how cheaply you'll free up lot's of space in my garage, living room, and dining room.

Trades: vintage schwinns, Colnago, Litespeed, Dean, Moots, Campy, Ace or XTR, CKing, Paul's, Kayaks, carbon paddles, canoes (no AL or Coleman), Black Aldabra's, MRE's, Mountain Hardware, MSR, Petromax, Geniol, Smart Car, motorcycles, Blue Eyed Panaques, 12x16 wood shed, etc...

Total package value over $20,000. Offer up and I may include a Nikon D100 with a Nikor AF-S-VR-Nikor_70-200MM 1:28G, Sigma 28-2001:38-5.5, Vivitar Wide Angle 1:2.5 with all hardware, cables, CD's, straps, extra batteries, 512 and 2G high speed compact flash cards. I bought the camera to take pics of the tank but no tank/no pictures.... Total value? Well over $2,000.


Just don't know if I care to keep paying electric bills on something I rarely play with anymore.

Come on Mike, don't give up. I know we did not always see eye to eye, but you have had the type of enthusiasm for this hobby that I wish everyone had. You were one of the most committed people I knew in this hobby. I also know what it is to lose interest and feel disgusted after you lose some of your prized specimens, & I still remember when it happened to you. I hope you stick it out and find a way to rekindle the love for the hobby again.

I Hope All The Best for You in what ever you decide to do. Remember, you're a Paid Charter Member until 2010, so you're kind of obligated to stay in the hobby.

Hey Mike - I understand.

I've been in and out of this hobby since - gulp - 1970. FW since 1966. Mostly in, sometimes completely out. But, never for long. Every time I'd swear off, I'd be back. Sometimes a few months, sometimes longer. But, I keep coming back.

Here's what I would suggest: Take what you have up and running, and put a plan together to make it absolutely minimum maintenance. Then, let it run for a while, pretty much all by itself.

Then, your interest will perk up again.

Happens to me every winter when hunting season rolls around, fishing through spring season... I only get interested in the heat of summer when it's too durn hot to do anything else... Then fall hits and I've built a nice setup once again and look at it about once a week tops. This is why I don't like fish, because they require food and I have to do something to the tank every couple of days. Having said that, summer time is coming up and I'm looking for some halides, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I hear ya Mike, Ive contemplated getting out for the time being. My tank has been in SA all year, while I still live in San Marcos. So I have to go home every weekend and take care of it. Its all maintenance, not a lot of time to enjoy it like I should.
With school, moving, etc, my 60 cube probably wont be up for a year.

Try working on your tank project if you get a chance and see if that doesnt inspire you.

Very true! Sometimes the work consumes the passion. Lessen the work by going smaller & more simple. You'll find your fire again w/time.
