Thread: FW Plant Substrate

  1. #1

    Default FW Plant Substrate

I switched out my substrates a couple days ago (don't have time for a serious planted aquarium). I have about 30-35 lbs for free to anyone who wants it. It is a mixture of black onyx sand and Red Sea's Plant Substrate. It is mainly a brown color with a little bit of black if that matters. Just needs to be rinsed a little. When I first set up the aquarium my plants went nuts and my entire aquarium bottom was covered in roots and plant offspring. I also have some Amazon swords that are free if anyone wants them with the substrate.

I'm in Selma and can try to meet someone if needed.

Hmmmm . . . very tempting, but it would mean I would have to do work! LOL. I've been thinking of tearing down my 29g freshwater and starting over with it.

Go for it, Chris. My wife decided to do one and of course we always do the hardest ones....planted with Discus. Here's a FTS of her's. We have the red and black substrate.

Steve - Yeah, I started with the intention of lots of plants in my 29g, but didn't have a very good substate to start with and have kind of let it go. Lots of good ideas and intentions just got sidetracked! LOL I used to be big into tiger barbs, loaches, cory cats, and similar fish but I went with all small tetras on this one.

April - I'll take it off your hands if we can find a time to meet up. I'm out off of 1604/Judson Rd. so I'm not far from you.
