    Default calcium

ok, my calcium lvl is under 20 atm. and i cant seem to bring it up, i add my daily amount and still a week from now nothing. how long does it take to raise it? i dont have any corals that would be sucking it up, i mean my snails use a little bit (does corraline algea use it?)

ok question, what is alkalinaty?(or how ever u spell it?) and how do u raise it or lower it?

another question, what is water hardness? and how do you lower it and how do you raise it? isnt it suppost to be like 7-12 i think is what i read for reef aquariums?

    thank's much, jesse

How are you measuring calcium? What units are you reporting?

I would start by reading this http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-0...ture/index.php

with the liqiud stuff. i fill the vial up, then put the #1 solution in, and when you do the first drop of the snd solution, it should turn pink, then you keep doing in until it turns blue. but it says if the first drop of the 2nd solution turns purople, then its under 20, and thats what its doing

The API (aquarium pharmaceuticals) test kit?

If so, that's 20 drops / 400ppm - which would be a decent area to be in...
Never a bad idea to take a sample to the LFS though!

Are you shaking it up after that first drop? If not, you need to.

You could mix up a small batch of saltwater, do your test on that since it would be over 300 ppm, that way you'll know if you are doing the test right or if your test kit is bad.
