    Default Sand

Hello Folks ...just purchased a sand and water table for my daughter ... didn't use up all the sand for her table. Is it safe to use in my sump? Put some in Vinegar and I think It's aragonite (losing color and seems to be dissolving). Didn't find much conclusive from old threads.

If you have more than 20lbs, I'd put half in a bucket and and use a test kit to see the silica level.

It's Sanitized Play Sand. The package doesn't say what the mix is.

hmmm ... what would ya'll suggest for an in-sump sand bed then? I'm in the process of replacing the bio-balls that used to reside there. I'm weighing the cheato, DSB, and live rock rubble.

you can make mineral mud for about 4.00 making it a lot cheaper than buying it. if you go that route go to petco and get a bag of cat litter. it is dr something or other natural cat litter 100% clay. make sure it says that. soak it and then add and in about 6 months the same stuff as mineral mud.
