Carpet Anemone
Reef Keepers,
I Had A Problems Last Night Thursday, I Previously Jinxed Myself, Well I Arrive Home And My Carpet Looks All Soft And Is Not Moving At All, It Just Looked Like A Big Blob Of Flour, I Had Previously Purchased The Carpet On Saturday And It Had Arrived On Friday, It Was A Nice, Big, Green Color , It Looked Healthy, There Were Some Clark Clown In There, So I Took It Home Acclimated For Almost 2.5 Hours And It Went Striaght To A Place Where The Light Is Not To Strong It Stayed All These Days, I Had Removed The Maroon Clowns On Wednesday Night Because I Thought It Was Not Opening Up And Maybe The Clowns Were Just A Bother, The Other Thing I Was Thinking Was The Light Fixture, Maybe It Got Light Shock, I Have Two 40 W Flourescents (actinic And 10k) The Others Are 2 M.h. 175 W (14k ) It Seemed To Respeond Well The First Two Nights But Then It Just Looked Like It Was Going To Waste. As Stated Before There Has Not Been Much That Has Died In My Tank Since @5 Years But What Could It Have Been The H2o Levels Were All Correct, And I Had Done A H2o Change Three Days Before.
Please Help

What problems did you have thursday night? Are you using tap water? It's possibly stressed and not necessarily dead. Have you checked your levels and had them re-checked by a LFS? It could also just be trying to find it's home. Is the foot attached to anything or is it free floating? I doubt it has light shock if you just bought it hours before at the fish store.

Thanks for ur response,
See the anemone was in a store with the lights consisting of power compacts, it is a nice kept pet store with all the works, but I did acclimated for @2. 5 hours putting my tank water into its bag, for the first two days it looked as it did at the store but them I noticed it looked just like a big blob, its foot was not stuck to nothing and it was just on the tank floor looking real bad, it has not floated but it was a good 10 to 12 inches in diameter when bought and now it looks like @ 4-5 inches, i have seen other anemones like this at pet stores or from friends and it seems as though it is just deteriorating, and believe the water down here is bad and all I have ever used is r/o water from Culligan or Glacier NO TAP WATER at all, but like I stated all my other corals are fine, so you do not think it was light shock or acclimation because when i turn off the M.H. it seems or it previously did looked better, now it is just a blob with even its mouth looking like its inside out. i should have maybe left it some more days there at the pet shop.
thanks for ur help

thxs for the response jrsatx20,
my carpet is an indo/pacific stichodactyla green in color, but you know I came today from work and I had only left the actinic lights and it seems to look better and is not inflated and flapping around , I guess due to the watr flow, but i will try yo move it because it is right next to the power head, but I thought they liked strong water current. It still does not look completewly like it will make it but it looks better, it still is just like a big blob, I am just concerned cuz I had one years ago but treade it and it was always big and inflatewd, and it would get bigger with the extra lights turned on but they were power compacts, do u think the lights (m.h. 175 w 14k) are too strong, what kind of lights do u have for ur anemone,is it the same as mine.
thxs again
p.s. I used to live on vance jackson also from 2001 -03 inthe corner apartments by huebner

when i feed mine its tentacles fold in and all u see is the body. when he is expelling dirty water his mouth wiill be inverted/puffing out. first had him in 75gal with 260pc
moved to 55gal with the 260pc the upgrade to 2 175mh 10k 2 96 actinic pc now back to 260pc he touches front and back of tank of the 55gal when extended. ya powerhead made his close read they needed high flow but mine hates it.
