    Default Fuge

I have a ? about everyones fuge. Who does are doesn't have a sand bottom in their fuge. Why I ask is because I'm getting a lot of debris in my tank and doesn't matter if I turn the flow down or up. I 've heard of people just using a few pcs of LR and the rest Cheato. If so will that work without the sand bed. And also have filter sponge where ever I can put it between the baffles and use filter socks.

I just have a 29 gallon tank with sand and live rock in it. No lights, no frills. I have my skimmer on one side, where the inlet from my overflow box is. The rest of the tank is packed with liverock, and the return pump is buried in the rocks, fairly close to the surface, in case of a siphon break in the overflow box in the display, which will not have enough water to overflow the display. Conversely, there is ample room to hold the excess water from the display in the event of a power outage. If you surround your return pump with LR, you should not get that much debris in your tank.

by debris you mean detritus? i dont think that will matter if you have sand or not... sufficient flow wisking it off to your skimmer and not letting it settle/ clean up crew matter more imo.. some people use a filter sock... if you think your skimmer is underskimming then you could try that

live rock and cheato work to reduce nitrates but wont actually remove the debris from the tank.. if the debris is coming from the tank and returning then go with a sock...if it coming from your chaeto from die off then make sure you trim it back regularly

I found getting a better clean up crew helped me the best with detritus clean up, let the natural crew help you out!
