I've heard this before, but i forgot. Can i use a SE 400watts bulb on a 250w ballast or is it the other way around?

Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...
Neither...

Coralvue sent me the wrong ballast this week. I was supposed to have gotten a 400w but they sent me a 250w. I talked to David, who is also the owner, and he told me until they send me the correct ballast that I could use the 250w one. He said that it would not have a problem firing up my 400w bulb. I have not tried and probably won't since the correct ballast will be here this week but just thought I would share with you what the owner of Coralvue told me.
anybody else? b/c now i am confused, but would not try it yet though. Wait til. pay day to try , just incase..lol

I am trying to figure this one out? Coral Vue sent you the wrong size ballast so you called them and they said they would send you the right ballast but for now if you needed some kind of light you could connect the 250 watt MH ballast which would under power the 400 watt lamp but something is better than nothing until the correct one came in?
Okay so I was asleep this morning when I read this? 1. Aquasport if you want to run a 400 watt then only use 400 watt ballast not a 250.
Engwife36 what does a 400w look like when you use a 250 watt ballast to fire it? Since David from Coral Vue told you to go a head sounds like he will warranty it if it goes bad?
