    Default need good brands of refractometer ..

    it has been recommended that i purchase a refractometer. what brands are good? any experiences of any that i should stay away from?

    any help is appreciated.

    no worries, ive had the $40 units and ive got a $100 unit and i can say with a fair amount of certainty that they are the same

    be careful buying one on ebay, some of the ones i looked at are out of the range that need to be tested for our use

    marine depot and dr fosters and smith have them very reasonably priced ($40ish)

    Many of the ebay ones are Drs F & S returns - look at the "location".

    I bought two from Drs Fosters and smith over the last 3 years. One for school and one for home. Bill uses the old fashion kind and has outstanding luck with it. It is simple and doesn't need calibrating. But with my old eyes I can't see it floating in the water
