ah-haaaaaaaaaaaa. Very nice! What kind of sand did you use in your trashcan? Did you see the post about the 3M Colorquartz? It may be worthwhile to try in your shark lagoon!

ya i saw that, i like that idea of the colorquartz, were breaking ground on our house this month so i have to start planning my shark lagoon soon!!! i put all the sand from my 240gallon in the trash can so its a whole bunch of fine sugar sand ( not sure what type) and misc shells and tiny rocks.. the rest i gave to someone.

Wow, I'd like to bet you would have some major trouble just trying to get nitrates! From what I have read, a deep sandbed like that is extremely beneficial in NNR, (Natural Nitrate Reduction) which it seems that alot of people have trouble with. I always preach "lotta rock, lotta sand" IMO the best thing you can add to a tank. How big is that Lion?

he is a little over a foot, maybe 14 inches. Ya that DSB in the trashcan is AMAZING. with all the big fish in my tank i always thought i would have problems, but i have never had a problem with nitrates much, especially after the trashcan. Ever since the addition of that trashcan after about a month, the nitrates have been UNtraceable. i never pick up any luckily, i think it was one of the best additions i have ever done
