Dang guys im tring to get a third tank but 375.My wife would loose it.Can i start smaller. Then ill sell them to you ba when they out grow my 125.
I was thinking of a 75 gal for reef and use my 125 for fish only. Then i was going to build a 96" stand and sit them together.I figured once my wife got used to that then i could get a 96" long tank like a 240 and use the 125 for reef some where else.See with my wife i have to take it slow. When the shark outgrows the 125 then i can tell my wife i need a 240.
But for know i got here to agree to the 75 last night for the reef.So im on the market guys.Another victory for the hobby.
I did try to take her to look like you said coraline79.But all she saw was the prices and that didnt help.

A big thing in this hobby that we all fall victim to is to buy right the first time. If you buy them small, sure they will eventually outgrow the tank. Sure, you may be able to find someone to buy them, but to be honest, there are not a ton of people (here) that have a large enough setup to be able to purchase and properly accomodate the sharks and rays that you want. In the end, the choice is up to you, but it would be wise to buy it right the first time, rather than to have to throw money at the situation to keep them alive. You may be able to sell the sharks to an individual online, but do you really want to have to ship a shark?

Im not sure yet i just saw a banded shark at alamo and a spoted shark at awana pets.I have seen rays around but not lately.I just know i want things that cant be in with a reef.So thats what started this whole new tank thing.Like most in this hobby i would love to get the biggist tank that i can fit but if i did that my wife would make me live in it.I have a 14ft wall in my dinning room and a 11ft wall in my living room. But she would flip if i came home wil a 8ft tank.

Never buy into the "I'll buy this fish now and get a larger tank later". It generally never happens. Tank prices keep going up and up every year. It's almost shocking what the prices were a few years back compared to what they run now. You'll buy all this equipment to run your 125g tank on and spend thousands of dollars doing so. Then later on you'll have to buy yet another larger tank and all new equipment. If the plan is for sharks and rays buy big the first time. Personally I don't think anyone really needs to own a shark in anything less than 500g. If you are truly a handy guy and own your home, you could build a plywood tank and save some serious coin. For about $1,000 you could build yourself a nice 500g tank.

I here you.But its not the money, its the wife.i have to take her slow.I have a filter that is rated for a 400g tank.My plan is to use that one filter to run the 125g for fish only i have and the 75 for reef i am looking for.I will pipe them together with alittle mods that b&b is going to do for me.So when or if i go bigger i will only need tank and some new piping.I would love to build one though.Do you have plans on that 500g.

Actually I do have some books around somewhere here describing the methods of building a tank. Probably the same info you'll find online.
