    Default Spring garden time

Its that time of the year already. I really want to put in a mountain laurel or 2 in my backyard. Some people here in SA are asking crazy prices for a tree that grows wild here. I have several native plants from Palms, cacti, agave, germander etc.... Anyone know of a place that sales Mt laurels in SA without a hefty price tag.

Wow..nice Jim. Mine is puny next to that.

Ray- they are very poisonous if I remember correctly so if you have dogs the front yard may be a better option. Have to agree with you on the smell..like grape candy.

i saw the largest mountain laurel i've ever seen in a pot on saturday, it was about 10-12' tall, multi trunked, and in what i believe was a 75G landscape pot! for $200! which is a great price for one so large, tiny ones are usually $25-30. and those things are S-L-O-W growers. they have a bunch of them at "green gate" nursery in seguin(which is, by the way, one of the best nurseries around, IME).

Wow I might have to grab one myself. I bought a tiny one for $50 about a year ago, but when my dog runs out in the front yard that is his pee post so its not too healthy anymore. I will have to plant the next one away from the front door so he doesn't target it again.
