Default my 75g set up and running

Got it set up and running. Snails are already laying eggs on my glass as well as many pods that started from transferring rock from my nano tank. I went with some peoples advice on the lights and compromised a bit so I could still go with an open top. I got the Outer Orbit fixture with 2x250w 10k bulbs, 4x54w T5 actinic's, 2 fans built in, and got free mounting legs and 2 free timers. There is about 95 lbs of live rock in the tank with about 20 lbs in the sump. 2 Koralia #3 powerheads. I used 80lbs of the Samoan Pink sand (may have to get one more bag) and will take all the MAASTARDS advice and go with a Euroreef RS100 that I will probably get this weekend. Already have some fish in the tank to include a small hippo tang, yellow tang, yellow eye kole tang, and a 6line. Tangs are all buddies and swim together most of the time. I will be ordering a 3-4 Magnificent Foxface shortly as well. I have a few corals to that I will be starting to acclimate tonight from the nano. They are 5-6 Zoo rocks and frags, 7 ricordia's orange, greens, and blues, candy cane coral, a true blue mushroom rock and couple red mushrooms that still need to be attached.

BTW, I would like to thank Sean for trying to set up my rock . I would also like to thank Ismael for actually SETTING up my rock!

Good choice on the skimmer! I have an rs80, and it is my ONLY filter. It keeps the water perfectly pristine, and clear. I only have 1/4 inch of clearance from the collection cup, and the bottom of the tank. Luckily, the 100 is actually 2 inches shorter than the 80, so you wont have to worry about that. The next step up from the 100, the 135, will not clear the underside of the tank. So don't go bigger than the 100. You will definatly be cleaning the collection cup with some NASTY skimmate. The nastier, the better! lol.

Wow, this is almost exactly how I am envisioning my 90 gallon to look like when I get it going, right down to the Hydors and RS100! Do you have some good information on how to setup the rocks in this manner? I have read some stuff on ReefCentral using acrylic or fiberglass rods, but would be curious to hear how you put these together. Also, how do you like the light fixture? My biggest concern is the dang fans being noisey...I was actually considering going with the T5 Aquatinic setup but still debating as yet. Maybe this one would be a good choice? Do tell.

Well, the rock was setup by Ismael (Maelv) who did a GREAT job in my opinion. He stacked it real nice and stacked it in the middle of the tank, so there is swimming room and easier flow on the back side.

The lights so far, are AMAZING! They're pretty quiet and look real nice. The ONLY thing I do not like about them, is that they are somewhat bulky and you don't have a lot of room for adjusting to much or maintenance to the tank. So if your bigger built it will cause some problems. More than likely, anything other than placing corals or feeding, the lights will have to come off. Other than that, they're great! The T5's complement the halides VERY well, and having just turned on the moonlights now that the regular lights are off, I am EXTREMELY pleased! The moonlights are much better than I expected! If you decide to go with this fixture, let me know. I found a place that sells them for about $75-$150 cheaper than everyone else with free shipping. They also included free mounting legs, hanging kit, and 2 timers!

As for the Koralia power heads, they work great, but I went with a fine grain of sand, so they are blowing it and basically making hills and sections throughout the tank. I actually have one of them turned off since I do not need that much flow quite yet. They are VERY quiet though and are extremely nice for the price!

I have two of the Koralia 3's on my freshwater now with pool filter sand it does take a little positioning to keep them from blowing it everywhere in the tank. I actually bought a set of Koralia 2's but found them to not circulate enough compared to the 3's.

So is your rock simply stacked or is it actually pinned together somehow? Guess I should check with Maelv to see how it was done...?

Stacked freely! Nothing holding it together at all.

Haha, Sean was actually the one telling me to try and find someone else to set it up! I did take his idea though! He was the one that had it set up in the middle of the tank, which I had never done before and I really like that! Although it takes up real estate! lol
