Well this weekend i bagged a good deal i got a three stage coralife RODI for 110 bucks brand new. i hooked it up and i tested my TDS and it came out to 40. is this acceptable i assume so since i tested the tap water and it read at 650.

No, 40ppm is not an acceptable level. Did you run a few gallons through it befor you tested?

If it has a DI unit then 0TDS is the only acceptable amount. As it creeps up to about 5ppm over the course of several months it is time to renew it. Keep running it for awhile to see if it clears out all that new product stuff and settles in.

Wanted to add that if the restrictor is not set correctly you coul dbe getting a lot of blow by from the membrane into the DI unit and overwhelming it.

I wish you had posted before buying. I have what's left of a Coralife unit. It was just plain junk - WAY worse quality than the fleabay units. I ended up replacing most of it, for more than if I had just replaced it with new. There aren't many products that I could recommend less... Sorry.

Get with Russ at Buckeye and he'll make parts recommendations for you.

i tested it again i think that the resin was new i am getting 0 now.

don't most RO units need to have at least 6 gallons of water flushed before you start to use.
