    Default Fish Paramedics

I know you're going...WHAT? We, my wife and I had an emergency yesterday....we go on...

We bought fish in NB...a large fish. We told the guy we had at least 1 1/2 hrs before we would get home. It wasn't the fish stores fault but it took almost 2 yrs before we could start home. I told my wife to check the temp in the bag..she said it was alright but she then pulled the bag out of the bag and box to see the fish flat on the bottom of the bag...not moving! OMG! we panicked. What to do..the first thing I thought about was getting the fish in water..we were at 1604 and 35 heading to 1604 and Babcock. Somehow my phone had fallen under the seats...couldn't reach it and the time I got the phone I was past the turnoff to Ace's...next thought B&B. Jeremy has his clam tank empty. All along the way, I had my wife slosh the bag back and forth trying to keep water going thru it's gills. Her hands were beginning to cramp, so at the red lights at Blanco rd, I would take over the sloshing. We got to B&B and fast acclimated the fish. We had to keep him moving as he would lay-over to side and stop. He was breathing very hard but we stayed with him as he began to swim a little at a time..He began to swim more but would stop for minutes at a time. We decided to leave him overnight. We felt like the first two hours were the most critical, he should have died then. To our amazement, the fish made it and is now acclimated and in my tank at home. We are now calling ourselves...Fish Paramedics....LOL!

Reefing is just like cooking, all the ingredients have to be just right , except you don't have to bring the water to a BOIL...
