Ad-aware problem?

I downloaded Ad-aware on my desktop and on my laptop a while back and now I can't get it to update on either computer. Everytime I launch the program it comes up with an error message when it tries to connect to update the spyware definitions. Anyone else have this problem lately?

I did try to download the Avast anti-virus software after Erik recommended it, but because I already had an old version of Norton AV it won't work unless I remove Norton, which I'm not eager to do.

Have you tried Microsoft's Windows Defender?

For some reason I think I may have dried that one, cant' remember. Maybe that's the problem I have too much anti-virus stuff. Add on AT&T's DSL security programs on top of the others. I may try to uninstall either Avast or Norton and see if it helps.

My guess is that they have come out with a newer version since you installed your copy. I would recommend that you deinstall it and then download and install the newest version from www.lavasoftusa.com

That is, unless you would rather go with something better. I recommend Spysweeper from www.webroot.com for antispyware software.
