orange plate coral
today my orange plate coral has blown up about double it's normal size. is this a normal thing? i've had it about 5 mo give or take. it's blown up once before but not near what it is now. last time it only lasted about 5-10 min then went back to normal. today it's been like this for about 20-25 min and it seems to be blowing up more than going back down. it's little tenticle thingies are now showing, but a few min ago they were not. any advice on this would be great. thanks! jessica

if it is like goniopora and elegans, it may be doing this because it is getting too much light. they puff up because too much photosynthesis coupled with temperatures a little too warm cause a buildup of oxygen inside of them and it can damage them and even kill them. i dont know if fungia/heliofungia are the same, but i had one that puffed up one day and about 3 days later it slowly dwindled away. you may try moving it to an area with less light

it's actually in a lower lite area now than it was a couple weeks ago. i just upgraded to a 100 gal tank. i need to get more light for the tank since i have the same single t-5 light that i had on my 29 gal. i moved everything in this tank tues. i'll try moving it, but i don't think to much light is the issue. could a change in amount of light have the same effect? maybe it's not getting enough light?

well it seems to be fine all day long, but every morning for the last couple days it's all puffed up. i don't understand why. when i had it in my 29 gal it did great. is it maybe growing? do i need to get it closer to lighting?

i took a couple pictures so you guys can see what i'm talking about. it's still doing it every morning right after i turn the lights on. it lasts 20-45 min then it goes back to normal until the next morning when the lights come on.
