alk and Ca

still having some alkalinity issues. Read a lot about it, did my water changes, and water changes won't bring it below 16. Haven't been adding any nutrients for 10 days. Added coralvite today, cuz has Ca and no carbonates in it. Added one dose/capful for my 55 gal as per directions. Lowered alk from 16 to 14.5. Added another half dose. It did nothing. Ca+ came from 420 to 430 after dosing. Apparently some precipitated the carbonates, but most stayed in solution. Are these parameters ok, or should I do something else? BTW, all my softies(xenia, spaghetti and finger leather, devils hand) came back in the last week since I got the alk from 24-25 down to 16. All except for kenya tree. It still seems to be majorly upset. Help????

I would continue with the Ca dosing. Usually the Alk will go down as the Ca tries to even its self out. Good Luck.

Thanks. Just didn't know if there was some magic concentration where all the sudden all of the Ca would bond to the carbonates and both of them completely precipitate out. Guess that would be ok though, cuz I could just start over.
