Nice pics! I started in freshwater tanks as well, mostly barbs, loaches, and cory cats. That lead me to change over to saltwater. After I quit the saltwater hobby for awhile I hated not having a tank and the sound of water in the house so I ended up setting up an old 29g sump as a freshwater planted tank with mostly tetras. It sits in my bedroom and while it has been mostly ignored since I started up the 45g reef tank, I still enjoy laying in bed watching my freshwater fish! I was never into cichlids, but I do have to say that I find it amazing how dedicated cichlid keepers are to replicating the specific natural environments for their species of fish. You don't see that to anywhere near the same extent in saltwater tanks or other types of freshwater fish. Hope that made sense! LOL

I have 5 freshwater setups, and 2 salt setups. The tank in my livingroom is a 60 gallon african tank. they are awsome fish, I love the delicate hierarchy developed in the tank, that keeps them from beating each other up/ here is a pic:

Those are all nice tanks. I haven't had a freshwater tank for awhile and I miss having one. I have been thinking about down sizing my reef tank and turning my 215 into a freshwater tank...Plecos and Bichers.

Nothing swimming in the middle column of that monster? If you really are interested in Bichirs, Randy at our shop is really into them and can offer excellent opinions and advice. monster fish keepers also has a cool bichir forum for those interested
