Ya know...I have been on the BOD's from the beginning....first as Secretary - then cleaning up & restoring our finances of about $8,000 that was stolen by a previous member and in doing so became Treasurer (3 years now) Since then operate all of MAAST's accounts thru Quicken (yeah, I set that up also) I post QUARTERLY and sometimes even more often our financial status to the BOD's in our TREASURER's FORUM. I process ALL new Charter Members and renewals and welcome them to the greatest site on line. I pass that info on to our ADMIN so he can update or add to our Memberlist. I then mail out their new LAMINATED Charter Member card so they can enjoy the benefits of great raffles and discounts from our Sponsorships that are worked with by OTHER BOD's. And that's just part of MY job. Yes, a job. We BOD's "try" to enjoy our wonderful hobby along with you guys....but because we believe in it so much that we are willing to spend HOURS making it happen - that a few would come along and try to tear it down because they don't have anything better to do?! I tell you what kaiser, until you and the few others "walk in these shoes" which I'm sure you won't...keep the talk in PM's. We are actually trying to make this a good site where we all can enjoy it. It has been a bashing for the past week. Enough already!

BTW...here are the finances in which we speak of. This has NEVER been a hidden thing. At one time - yrs ago, when we were posting BOD meetings, it was mentioned in the minutes. All ANYONE has to do is ask - this is OUR site - all of us. We've all built it and I myself won't stand by & let a few come in here "sporadically" and attempt to tear it up. I have Year End Reports for 2005, 2006 & 2007. We are NOT at a level where we are in a tax situation BUT will be if we take on MACNA. THAT IS WHY we are in the process of getting it done. MACNA will not happen without Ace & Mike. They are part of the core of this site and the dream of MACNA happening and also helping build a better MAAST. Never have I seen either one of them take advantage of MAAST and I resent anyone that says so. My character would never allow myself to do anything but what is right. Ace & Mike fall in that category. This was till this week the best BOD group I've had the PRIVILEGE to work with.

I have also processed more new charter members and renewals since the first of the year than any other time. I'm sorry to those that have had to see all this nastiness. This is a great site and a great group of people that love this hobby and want to make it even better. Please give it the opportunity to show you it is.

Sherri, THANK YOU!!! You are awesome and Ace, there is no better person to be our VP. You are one of the nicest, most upfront and honest people I have ever met.
I WORK for one of our sponsors, and you know what, I solicited Ace to build the sump for my tank because you know what? We couldn't find a company to do it for me exactly how I wanted it for a reasonable price and timeframe... THANK YOU SO MUCH ACE, and as to how the sponsors feel about it? Carlos couldn't have cared less.

Lee, well versed as always; you'd make an excellent BOD, but your work is leading people in the right direction and teaching others to do what's right. Thank you for that!

MAAST needs direction and leadership. Our current BOD is an aweome group of people that is capable of doing great things. Let's redirect all this energy in a new direction:

Hope they're not leaving because of a few people wanting to argue ?

A majority of the people that use this site are here for the right reasons and know how much Ace and Mike contribute to MAAST. Even still, we may not all have the same opinions and bicker- but at the end of the day, we respect you guys for what you do. I hate to see that you feel your integrity is on the line because of a few arguments when you have this entire organization who needs you.

Ace ... I've not been around long, and although I'm not a charter member, you and other BOD's have posted replies to my questions several times (never made me feel like a web-member). Your reputation is really all you've got ... and if I were you I'd be just as indignant as you are. I am among the ranks that do not see a conflict of interest.

Chris, I think your question as to ACE’s custom builds is fair, because on the surface of it, one could see preferential treatment. However, upon closer examination of the issue, there is in my view, a distinct difference between ACE and Joel’s business activities.

There are things to be said in threads ... and things that should stay in PM's and run up the food-chain. If satisfaction is not found through PM's the appropriate forum for debate on this is at meetings, where people who care enough to show up discuss it. Your quote, weather or not this was your intention, came across as an indictment of the entire BOD and was presented in a way that will be in cyberspace forever. I completely understand the BOD vigorous defense of their reputations.

I’m sad to see this here, because MAAST has been such a positive collection of people who seem to share the same practice of good will. I have not come across anyone who treated me poorly because I don’t know a whole lot about reefs yet. I sincerely hope this will be resolved positively. I’d hate to see MAAST go. My wife probably wouldn’t mind too much … she says I spend too much time here.

BOD … I appreciate you all and hope resolution of this comes quickly.
