Clownreef - if you are set on buying a used system, make sure you understand the history of the system you buy:
1. How long have the current filters (all of them) been in place?
2. How long since the last time the system was sanitized?
3. How long has the system set unused?
4. What was the tds of the tap water at the owner's house?

I don't care where you get it, just make sure it's new - Russ has some great points. As I found out, you can get a "deal" on one that will cost you as much, in total, to fix as it would have to buy a new.

It's always a good idea to put in new filters in any used system. I just got a used one to replace my broken one and just replace all the filters. The only thing I kept was my RO membrane which was only a couple of months old. Everything else was replaced.
Is Reef Madness Catchy???
For the price of a complete set of new filters, you've almost spent as much as a new unit. It's the filters that are expensive.
