Default Popping nosie in my tank...???

Ok, so for the last couple of months every couple of days I will hear a loud pop noise from my tank. It sounds like a nice hammer tap to the glass. I normally just hear one pop from time to time day or night.

From google research I have found that this could be a possible Mantis shrimp or Pistol shrimp.

Any other possibilities or advice on this subject.

    Thanks for your help.

Put some ghost shrimp in your tank and see if anything comes out to try and get em... Make sure to do this with your lights off, using a red lens flash light, seems to help... I bet its a mantis or pistol shrimp... To catch them im unsure of how...

    Thanks, good idea.

I definitely do not want a Mantis....but if it's a Pistol....that would be cool...they are reef safe from what I have read.

    Thanks for all the posts.

    Any info on Pistols...?

I'm thinking it's a Pistol too based on the infrequent single noise.

How do they do in reefs? I see they are reef safe...but how reef safe?

From the video, it doesn't seem like they are reef safe!
