Default Emerald Crabs in soon to be Reef

I have a itty-bitty spot of bubble algea in my tank that showed up soon after adding lighting (this is an expansion of a previous post. I've been researching Emerald Crabs on line and I find some vendors say “reef safe”, some say “not reef safe”. How do ya’ll feel about these critters … yea or nay in a reef?

I've had a few in my tank for awhile and I very rarely see them, but I have not noticed any damage that I could even blame on them

I have never had a problem and most people I have talked to would say they're reef safe.

I have 3 in my little tank, and I had 2 in my 135. I love them. I spot mine alot easier in my small tank as there isn't that much rockwork but I did see it in the larger one also....but they are reef safe. In Missouri, the one I did have was pretty big and he seemed to love the rock that was in the front and center and he would get that defensive attack mode when I cleaned the glass. Never any of the ones I have owned to do do anything but pick stuff of rocks. So I am with the "Yea" crowd.

I am definitely in the YES camp. I have 5 in my 135 reef and love them!

I have had one in my 120gal and after he demolished all of the bubble algae he began to come out during the day looking for food. He quickly became a favorite in my tank.

He also passed away after 6 months...not sure why. He enjoyed eating Chaeto as well.

    REEF SAFE!

I have noticed a couple that i have had can be a little aggressive to small fish that get near them. I dont really think the fish would hang around long enough for the EC to get them but they might agrivate them at night.
Some people are like slinkys, they are really good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
