Default How to chill down a 75g rr tank

Just curious, but has anyone every tried putting Hard frozen Ice Packs in the sump to cool the water, and Every day switch them out for a fresh frozen one. I was thinking of putting a hard frozen block in my sump every other day to bring down the temp, instead of buying a $500 chiller, Just curious if any one has ever tried this, and if so how successful were they.

Kinda of a dump thread but just Curious.

Check out what are called "Ice Probes". They are around $100-150 and work on tanks up to 75g.

The ice pack idea sounds great but will only be a temporary fix. I have always been able to keep my aquariums temp down by adding fans to the sump, hood and top of the glass on aquariums where I use glass tops.

guess you have to ask yourself if your tank is worth 500 dollars. is your mental health worth 500 bucks? If so, take the dive and finance the chiller. i run a jbj artica 1/10 and it pulls a 10 degree drop easily.
