Thread: Can external pumps leak?

  1. #1

    Default Can external pumps leak?

Question: is it possible for a brand new external pump to somehow leak from the body?

I know that I have have a leak in my sump, but I'm pretty sure that I've found it where it is. I'll verify that and try to fix it myself with some weld-on this weekend.

Thanks Ace for offer to fix it. You're my backup plan if I screw it up or can't find it.

What brand of pump is it? An external pump can leak from input/output connection if it is not made properly and the seals can go bad on the impeller housing causing it to leak. As you say your pump is brand new, I would look at the connections.

A new pump could just as easily have gotten a pinched seal at assembly.
