Default Filamentous algae problem? I have your biological solution!!!

    Greetings, all,

I have a 3.5-4 inch Siganus Virgatus, Double-barred Spinefoot Rabbitfish. Follow this link for a picture, top right of page: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/rabbitfi.htm

Here's the deal...I got it to control a serious outbreak of filamentous algae in my tank. He has done exactly that. The problem is that there is no longer any algae in the tank, and I am afraid he will starve.

I am feeding A LOT of Spirulina flakes for now, and supplementing sheet algae, etc. He is an INCREDIBLY hearty eater, attacking everything from flake, to Microcrabs, to Plankton.

I will offer him for $25. If you are trying to get over an algae infestation, this is the biological control for you. I can (almost) guarantee results.

Is he/she KNOWN to be reef safe? If so, I'll take it. 210.663.8079.

Bill, I would be glad to place it in my other tank to check compatability for a few days if you wish and report back. However, the tank he is in houses a couple of mushrooms, a decent sized zoa colony, and a bird's nest coral. None of them show any signs of damage or distress. It is bare-bones for now, so I really don't know for sure.

I wanted to respond here so that if you decide NOT to get him, other people already have the info on him.

I bought one for some algae I had. Seemed to get along with the corals and did eat some algae. Then my tube anemone decided that eating it would be a good idea. Now I have a fat tube anemone.

He's in my fuge for now. Eating well, and nipping up chunks of my Razor Caulerpa.

I'm happy to hear it?! I hope the caulerpa-buffet thing is ok...he was voracious in my tank. I can only imagine what he thought when he saw your fuge.

    Anyway, cheers.
