I re-did the aquascaping when I added some new rock. I'm guessing that there's about 175-180 lbs. in there. I really wanted to have three separate islands (right, middle and left), with some caves connecting them. But, I also wanted to have room up front for the bigger fish to swim. Don't know if I happy with what I ended up with.
I know the pics are not the best. It probably looks better in person. Anyway, what do ya' think?
It is one of the tanks from Louis' place. It's lit w/ 3 rows (front to back) of 54W t-5 HO all the way across. That gives a total of 324 watts over the display, which is about 86 gallons. (Not that watts per gallon is the standard anymore, but this give just under 4 watts/gal.) The bulb configuration is as follows....
Back row: 18,000 k (Power Glo)
Middle row: 10,000 k (Daylight)
Front row: Blue Actinic (Marine Glo)
I have the actinics kick on for an hour and a half at 11:30 am. Then, the main lights kick on from 1:00 to 9:00 pm. I let the actinics turn off at 4:30, but they come back on at 6:30 and stay on until 10:00. After 10:00, the tank is lit by DIY moonlights which are actually on all the time.
I need to see what I can do about some of the scratches in the glass. They show up a lot more under the t-5 lights. I've heard they can be buffed out w/ Ferric Oxide(sp?) as long as the scratch cannot be felt w/ the finger nail. I have a friend who owns a glass blowing shop. I'm going to check w/ him this summer and see what he can do.
