Upgrading from the Aquapod 24 - Question
I am going to upgrade to a (36Lx18Wx21H) 58 gallon tank shortly and am not sure what would be the best way to go for lighting. I currently have a 150w SunPod on the 24 gallon Aquapod. I have some hard corals, zoos and mushrooms, and an anemone. Everything will be moving to the new tank. I have seen lights that are single 250w (or double) HQI and PCs on the same fixture. I have also seen the same for 150w HQI fixtures. Which configuration of Halide lighting would be the better choice?

retro-fit if you have a canopy. I have seen it mentioned that if you have a fixture which houses everything inclusive, you can have problems if wiring fails, or the whole light fails. At least with a retro fit, you can more easily tell the source of the issue. 250s would do you good!

A single 250? Or two 250s?

a single 250 in a lumenarc or lumenbright reflector would be perfect. then throw in some t5 or vho actinics for color enhancement.

Before I sold my 58 I had a 3' Orbit and gutted it except for the fan and reflector and installed two 175 watt MH 12K Reeflux lamps with electronic ballast. To keep the glass tops cool I placed a 4" fan on top of the glass.

color enhancement is something I am missing with the SunPod on the Aquapod 24. I'm really hoping to see a change. The colors are good now but just not getting as much of the glow seen with actinics.

Mini Lumen Bright Reflector
