    Default encrusting gargonia

I am new the the soft corals, and my first piece is an encrusted gargonia. Its been doing fine till this last couple of days. I have been having trouble with cyano so I added chemi-clean and turned the lights out for the recommended 48 hours. Well I did the water change and turned the lights back on and it has is opened yet. I did my water change this morning and nothing else has distrupted the tank. I even put in some DT's to see if that would help coax it out. Nothing, so any help will be greatly be appreciated.

Not sure about how "reef safe" if it all any chemicals are, except for additives. What lights are you running it under? What is your salinity? Have you verified that it tests accurately? What are your levels? How large of water changes did you do? What livestock do you currently have and how long has your tank been running for? It is also important that if you do the lights out bit, that you bring your lights on for a shorter time when you start to turn them all back on.

It could just be that they will come out tomorrow, but posting any info you can in the interim would help in concentration on a resolution.

encrusting gorgonia is very resilient, if your lighting is adequate, and your water is even close, they'll be open again in a few days. they often close up, and cover over with a waxy looking mucus coat when the water gets stirred up, or somethings a little out of wack. i imagine it's a simple defensive mechanism. eventually(1-4 days) the mucus sluffs off, and the polyps resume normal activities.
