Thread: water pump ?

    Question water pump ?

    can a water pump be placed vertical to the the aquarium where the intake of the water in on top and the out going what is to the side. will it affect the water pump.

    I would think it would work as long as the intake was lower than the water level. Most pumps in the aquarium trade are not self priming. ( I believe the question was can I mount my pump vertical in lieu of horizontal.) Might want to contact the manufacture for there thoughts?

    Yeah, I would think the pump might have a harder time starting up, depending on how the intake was fed to the pump. If the water source is gravity fed down into the pump intake, then that would be ok, but if the pump is going to have to suck water upwards just to get it into the intake, that might cause problems (as in pump not being able to create enough suction and running dry).
