Get Ace to build you one. He's got a special design that doesn't seem to break siphon...

I used one very similar to these on my first tank. I bought it used from a LFS that's no longer in business in SA. I never had it bread siphon, although I did have to clean out the siphon occasionally due to coraline buildup. Regardless of which brand you get, be sure to put a Durso or a Stockman on the drain pipe. It'll keep your aquarium from sounding like a comode, lol. I recommed the stockman, as its very compact and will fit easily in most overflow boxes. Here's a link to instructions on making one: http://lava.lounge111.net/diy_stockman_mod.htm, and a discussion on the improved design: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=239116

lifereef is good but quite pricey for a reefer on a budget!
I like bills suggestion if Ace doesn't already have too much to do

I would say the acrylic ones are pretty good. The only time that I ever overflowed due to a siphon break was because I broke the siphon and was not paying attention. Nothing like the feeling of your eyes getting huge as you wath the water level rise higher than it should.

Seriously, the overflow is probably one of the last things that will fail on you. The main place to worry about in overflow problem would be in the sump, and that's only if you have not accounted for the excess water that will fill the sump if the power shuts off, or if the return gets clogged.

After looking at a picture of the lifereef, I think that mine is actually a different brand. I believe that the box that goes on the outside of the tank is deeper than the lifereef brand is, and on mine the inside and outside boxes are made as a single unit. You regulate the level in the tank by turning two long nylon screws that go down through the connector between the boxes and bottom out on the rim of the tank. Does anybody have any idea what brand this would be? It doesn't have a brand name on it that I recall.

At any rate, it's a good one, although I don't use it anymore since I drilled my tank. Might need a new home, if anybody is interested.
