I've been deer hunting in Texas for over 25 years.

Legal Shooting Hours for all Game Animals and Nonmigratory Game Birds: from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. For information on sunrise/sunset hours, please look at: http://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/Texas.asp.
Spot on... Also weather.com shows sunrise on the weekend forecast and some of the detail pages, and I know everybody checks the weather before heading out right???? ;)

Oh, you mean like yesterday morning? We hunt just west of San Saba. I left for my blind yesterday morning at 5:45 and it was 66 degrees. Wearing a light pair of camo coveralls. When I arrived BACK at camp - driving my un-heated golf cart - at 9am it was 41!

That's funny I did the same thing yesterday morning! We're a little West of Ozona, gets pretty cold out there. It was mid 60's according to the gauge in camp and dead calm, so I grabbed my light coat which is about equal to a sweater at best. As the sun began coming up I noticed the wind shift (which was good for my position) and then noticed that it was cold. Next thing I knew my ears were frozen and winds were around 25+ mph. I had to get down out of the stand and huddle under a cedar tree to block the wind. LOL

most deer hunters think that hunting starts at dawn and ends sunset. its the duckhunters that know when its shootin time. im curious how the hunting is this year since there is such a huge acorn crop i would think it would be crappy? hopefully before it really cools down we will have a big rain to rot em out.

The biggest problem this year is the growth from the rain. The broomweed is 4-5 feet tall, and even brown, it's still THERE. All you see is ears or ears & horns. Mostly ears & horns. On our place, a doe doesn't last long. Almost all we see is bucks.

Depends on the duck hunters. I have to have a conversation with my son every time we hunt explaining to him why we have to wait to shoot the birds floating amongst the decoys while we hear all the shotgun blasts all around us.

Where we're at hunting has been pretty good, tons of deer and lots of movement. They don't come to corn all that much but the rut has been pretty good and they're running all over the place anyway. We've got a few setups that don't have any feeders, just overlooking natural feeding areas and these setups always produce lots of deer movement.
