Thread: What would you do?

    Default What would you do?

I bought a chiller this past spring in prep for summer. My water had already hit 84 and was acting like it was getting higher. I ordered my chiller and while waiting for it to get here I put a fan across the top of the water and BAM!! Temp dropped to 78 and stayed there. Basically I had a chiller probe sit in my sump all summer and NEVER came on except about once a month I would shut off the fan till the chiller came on and brought the temp back down. Then I turned the fan on til next time, so maybe a total of 5 times this chiller came on. Wonder if I should keep it or sell it? hmmm

Always a good thing to have. You can always lower your AC which should bring your elec. bills down at least.

You'll never get back what you spent on it, and it's great to have just in case. If you perform any upgrades etc, you may need it then...

Plus it's nice if your AC goes belly up. Much better than dropping frozen water bottles in the tank every couple of hours---trust me.

Personally, if I had one, it would give me a great excuse to buy some potbellies!

    Keep it.

I think anyone who runs a chiller, should also run fans for evaporative cooling. Thats your first line of defense. Then let the chiller do the hard work.

BTW what kinda lights and pumps do you use?
