    Default catipillar looking thing



    Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to this site. I've been helping out my friend with his tanks and I am now just starting my own. Right now I have a six gallon eclipse with a 50/50 24w catfish light, standard filter from the eclipse with phosphate pad and a few rocks of matrix. i've had it up and going for about a month or so. I have a condy and two nassarius snails and about ten pounds of live branchy rock.

    well now to my question i found this little catipillar looking thing, looks kinda scary i was just wondering what it was and if it would be bad to have towards my condy or snails.

    looks like a bristle worm to me,I have alot in my tank some that range from 4---10 inches long.they eat detrius. Sometimes they will bother corals but for the most part they are OK

    Yep its a bristle worm!!! They are for the most part harmless (unless you touch one) they seem to be in all tanks with LR. Just make sure they don't get out of control. Certain fish will keep them in check. Shouldn't bother the condy, but if they are numerous can harm the snails, if they happen to fall over!! Are actually pretty good detritus eaters.

    A good place to look is wetwebmedia. All kinds of info there. If you read the posts about worm identification, yeah.... there are a whole lot of different types, most are ok. Warm welcome to MAAST!
