Metal Halide Ballast Temp
How hot does a Halide ballast normally get? Any suggestion on placement, keeping it cooling. I have a 175 Watt Advance Ballast running about 130 degrees F. Thanks a Million!

They run very hot. I have mine hanging inside my stand from a mug hook. The hook keeps it from touching the stand too much, but yes, they do run very hot.

That is why it is better to run electronic ballast because all that heat is wasted energy, and the older the ballast gets the hotter it will get until it burns out. If you can run a fan keeping it cooler it will last longer.
