anyone ever had ZOA POX?

Im not so sure if i have it but anyone know what causes this? I had a couple of my colonys close up for unknown reasons did big waterchange still not opening..dip them..still nothing. One of my colonys is melting away this sucks but I know with any hobby ..things happen.

If it is zoa pox you should be able to see small white spots all over the stalks and base of the zoas. Anthony and I were talking about this the other day. I just lost about 75% of my zoa colonies due to an unknown reason. Sometimes it just happens is what I finally had to come to grips with. Some things to check for are sediment around the base of the colony and critters such as hermits and bristle worms pestering them. Wish I could help you out more, but I can't. One thing with my colonies as they were kicking the bucket- the more I messed with them and the more I dipped the faster they croaked.

Apparently from what I've read it seems to happen in cycles. I have personally lost quite a few small colonies. Stress seems to be a big factor. Most of the colonies I lost were heavily fragged prior to the pox developing. I've also noticed that by quarantining the infected colonies and letting the cycle run its course the surviving polyps have flourished. I have tried FW dips and lugols to no complete success. On RC there is a treament using FuranII taht seems to be very effective, but I haven't used it before. All my zoa colonies seem to be pox free at the moment (Fingers crossed). The pox is easily ID by the presence of small "wart"-like bumps on the outside of the polyp. Very noticeable when the polyp is closed. It also seems to only affect zoas and not palys for some reason. Hope this rant helps.

thanks for the info I have came to the conclusion that stress was the factor in my tank I have been fragin and doing a bunch of moving things around for other new frags. I will be more careful next time hopefully.

When I fragged my eagle eyes I had over 100 polyps after fragging 20 off, I ended up with ~30 polyps after the pox hit. I pruned off as many infected and shriveled polyps and ended up with close to 15 healthy looking polyps. This was the basis of my now colony which is now over 50 polyps. I would try and prune as many of the healthy polyps and grow from there. LMK if you have any specific questions and I'll try and help. I bought furan and now dip any incoming polyps to try and prevent antho=er outbreak.

I just lost a few colonies they all got it at the same time. I also lost a big colony of palys which I didn't think they could get it either.
