Default opinions on yellow tang and tank

Hey guys I am just curious my wife is wanting a yellow tang and I know they need a good size tank. My tank is 100 gal 5ft long is it to short or could I keep a small yellow tang for quite awhile. the only tank mates would be 1 perc 1 RG a few green chromis's 1 lawn mower and 1 enginer goby. Tank has been set up for over 1 1/2 years

    Thanks

a yellow tang should be fine in that tank, even until it gets pretty big.

ok cool I am going to try and find me a small one. I am trying to get my hair alge under complet control. I want one but I think my yellow watchman died somewhere in the rocks and shot my nitrates up a little so and what little hair I had exploded but my fuge and water changes have got it comeing down. So I am going to try for a YT. Thanks.

Just curious, are you getting a yellow tang to help fight the hair algae? your second post made it sound like that was the case.. soooo,, if your wife wants one, yes. If its to fight hair algae, NO!

No, I am trying to get the hair alge under controle before I get the YT she just want one because they are "pretty" lol I know that they are alge eaters thats why I waited over 1 yr before I got one so I could get my tank established first. Once I get the rest of the hair alge almost all gone then I will get one but as for fighting it no.
    thanks for the info.

I have not posted any updated pics of my tank in a while I will take some while the lights are on and post them up. You can see the hair alge its not real bad but it was alot worse 2 weeks ago.

A yellow tang or a purple tang would be fine in your tank. Keep in mind that they normally don't like other fish with similiar body types.

Yeah I am not planing on getting any other fish after the tang. I take that back I may get another yellow watchman goby, and a couple more green chromis's but nothing more I dont want to over stock I would reather under stock.
