Thanks for the info, ill try to find someone to take the betta.

Bill, ive been reading about them, most places say there fairly hard to keep. Anything in particular they need to thrive? I'm planning on keeping it a planted tank...any tips or suggestions?

I wanted to chime in and ask, because I never saw anything mentioned, about what particular species of rams you're talking about. The German Blues and Golds stay really small, but I've seen Bolivian and Columbian Rams get quite a bit larger, like 3". Assuming you were talking about the Germans, they would probably be okay by themselves in a 3, but I wouldn't have any other fish with them in something that small because they can be rather fiesty when they start spawning.

Yeah, he's talking about "German Rams". Microgeophagus ramirezi. Used to be Apistogramma ramirezi. Golds are the same species as the Blues.

As for hard to keep - remember, this is freshwater. Certainly as easy to keep as a clownfish. With good water parameters, and some privacy, they will fairly easily spawn. Good parents, too.
