Default Help me pick a camera

I am looking for a good digital to take easy pictures.. I don't want to spend more than $250. Any suggestions? Mainly for tank photos and pics of the kids.

I used to use a fuji finepix s3000 that had an excellent macro mode. Also had a SLR feel to it!!!

I haven't jumped in, 'cause I while I take a 1000 photos a month, my camera stinks for macro shots of tanks - and I generally assume that that is what people are looking for. So, if macro shots aren't a big deal, and portability, durability, ease of use and price is what you are looking for, go Canon. Like I said, I take about 1000 photos a month as a real estate appraiser. Almost all appraisers use one of 2 makes: Kodak (they have a model with a great wide angle lens), or Canon. The Canons AREN'T as durable as they used to be - you used to be able to drop them! But, they are still pretty good. We like them because 1) they are durable 2) they have rechargeable batteries that last a WEEK between charges (that's about 250 photos), they have a BRIGHT LCD screen that you can actually see in sunlight, and they take decent wide angle shots (specifically the SD800). I usually buy from Dell, but others have them on sale occasionally. Try www.slickdeals.net (not COM), and search for "canon" and see who has what on sale. The SD800 is being replaced by the SD870, which has the same wide angle lens. As far as I can tell, these are the only 2 models with that feature.

I use a canon PowerShot S3 IS which has a macro and super macro function. I think its in that price range too. I would recomend it for that price...
