    Default Skinny Foxface

    Hey MAASTARDS! My foxface rabbitfish is very skinny... other than that, he is very healthy, and the water quality is great. I feed him SALLY's Seaweed Salad. Sometimes, I boil it for him, because its easier for him to chew on. Is that bad? Is there anything I could do to help make this fish fatter??? THANKS!!!

    Is that all it eats? Do you have any other fish? I use the EDOMAE brand seaweed from H-E-B (It's about 2.50 and ten full sheets) and my tangs LOVE it. Anyone that has seen them can testify! Have you tried some Formula 2? You have a variety of options, just look for algae eater type foods and you should be alright.

    That's strange my foxface eat everything from brine to seaweed... I know that's not much help but I must have gotten the trash can genus?

    Mine is the same way, it eats everything.

    Stop boiling the seaweed as you are most likely cooking out the nutrients in it. The fish will eat the seaweed just fine. It will soften up anyway in a few minutes in the tank.

    Feed it Mysis, Brine, and other assorted frozen cubes. Feed it raw fresh spinach leaves and romaine lettuce.

    Remember a variety is always good. This is for all herbivores.

    Smitty, they do tend to eat other foods as well. The typical diet is of an algae eater though. The trash can genus is probably much better than the finicky genus.

    In Kansas City, I made my own food and it had some NORI sheets, garlic tablets, and spectrum pellets (among other things - a mixed seafood pack)....a little for every inhabitant, and all my fish ate that stuff up like it was their last supper....including my fox face...

    I sometimes buy at heb or walmart a lil tray of mixed seafood it looks like the junk seafood it has squid, octopus, shrimp, and others... then I mix that with some water and chop it up. Dumb a lil my tank and my fish go crazy... they love it.... and the whole tray cost me 3 bucks last about a month...

    My foxfaxe loves a clump of cheato from the fuge. If you need some, I can give you a starter size clump.
    Thanks,
    Sean =-)

    Awesome. I know where I am getting my food from! Seriously that could save on some cash! Now that I am over the initial hurdles, I am squandering to save for the bigger purchases!

    Thank you guys! He does nibble on meat, I've mainly been feeding him the vegetarian diet, but I'll start him on some meat items. Thank you!
