    Default Surface Skimmer

Some of you know I set up a 210g aquarium which is going to be FOWLR. Right now Im running a Large Canister filter and 90lbs of LR. I will be adding a Tunze DOC Skimmer when the time to ad fish comes. I talked to ACE and Peter about somehow having a surface skimmer without running a sump or overflow. Check out what I found, a surface skimmer made to be attached to a canister filter, woo hoo! Im going to give it a shot and see how well it works. Cheap and looks promising.

I'd see if Ace could make you something like that but a little larger that could just attach to the back of your tank and have your inlet sit down in it.

I agree - I'm not sure that will handle the volume you may be looking for.

I've seen some skimmers similar to that made out of PVC pipe.

I have one of those, its pretty much useless, even on a 40g.

Would yall Like to know how I skim the surface of my tank's water? I took end of the air tube that leads to my protein skimmer pump, and I mounted it to the inside of the aquarium in a way in which it sucks the surface of the water, AND air at the same time. The end of the tube is set sideways so half of it is in the water, and the other half is in the air. To get the perfect water/air ratio, you just raise or lower the end of the air tube. Now, all of that nasty surface scum goes straight to my protein skimmer!!! (talk about a jerry rig)
