    Default corner overflow

I'm setting up a 75 gallon seahorse tank in our Brigade office. The tank is RR and has a corner overflow. The tank is also brand new. What causes the water to go up and down in the corner overflow and cause a rush of water into the sump?

I have a 110 RR at the house and I have never had this problem so I don't have a clue.....

Air gets trapped in the drain, and "gurggles". What kind of drain is on the overflow? Generally what happens is that a bubble of air gets trapped inside your drain and it backs up water until it "burps". You might try putting a durso in. I've also found that running a piece of tubing - a little bigger than the "airline" tubing, the hard white tubing from HD - down into the drains helps keep them "burped", even improving the performance of a durso.

Having the overflow drain outlet completely submerged can cause this. Either regulating the flow going into the drain like Bill said or raising the drain outlet so it is at least partially above the sump water level, or both, should prevent the burping.
