Thread: Wiring question

  1. #1

    Question Wiring question

Is it OK to wire the power side ( hot, neutral, and ground) of two ballasts together and share one power plug?

Specifically, share the power plug for two 2x54w Advance electronic ballasts.

Should be fine as long as you use a decent power cord that can handle the power draw from the two ballasts, which in your case isn't that much. Only risk would be if you had two really heavy duty ballasts that used a lot of power and you used a cheapy power cord. The cord could actually overheat, melt, and start a fire.

Yes, that's exactly how I did mine. I don't understand why people do not do this more often. I only need 1 timer and the 2 lights never go out of sync.

    Thanks guys.
I thought it would be OK, but it never hurts to be sure.
