In most cases I would say that the tool left behind should be returned, however I have been unfortunate to have had dealings with scAAMCO and I would make an exception to returning tools when dealing with scAAMCO.

Shouldn't there be a shorter word for "monosyllabic"?
Well I know what mikes talking about. I left tools behind. Then turn around to go get them, And there gone. It sucks. No one know how much it cost me or if they do. They think its a finder keeper thing. I think you should go back and return it. But next time somethen goes wronge with your car. Call around. Sounds like you got stiffed.
Where is all my money going too!!!!!
55g 500w MH total 70lbs live fuji rock 30lbs sand
10g nano tank for a mantis shrimp..
150g that is starting up
2000g pond with 8 koi and 1 fat goldfish(and I do mean FAT) lol
The thing is I'm not sure whose it is, I'm just assuming its AAMCOs. I don't even have it now so it doesn't matter. I didn't want to take it to AAMCO but it was kind of an emergency thing. I only had a couple days off and they were the only ones able to fix it before I needed it for work and school again.

If the car is running fine now why not return it!! If it did cause new problem demand that they fix them before returning the tool!!!
Is Reef Madness Catchy???
I think I've said it like 2 or 3 times now. I don't have the tool. I do not have it. It is not in my possession. It is no where near me. It isn't even in this city. End of story. I won't ask anymore questions as my simple question seem to be confusing. I was trying to find a way to figure out if it was theirs for sure or not, didn't get the answer to that. I'm not going pick it up or find a way to ship it to me if I don't know for sure its theirs.
Just a reminder, I don't have the tool. And just FYI because I think some people reading this thread thing I'm hoarding a tool I don't even need- my car went out of the city to be repaired and AFTER it came back I was told about the fuel pressure gauge. I didn't know about it before, I never saw the thing, I had no control what happened to it. I'm trying to ask a question and you act like I'm stealing! Haha. Christ...

OK, to answer your question... It is POSSIBLE that the gauge rattling around COULD break loose, and start spewing fuel. However, with a decent quality gauge, that's unlikely. They can take a lot of abuse before breaking off.

I think the confusion was in the question and how it was asked. This is coming from an ex mechanic also, so take it for what it's worth.
"I have been driving around with it on since then until it was noticed today."
I guess that this means that somebody found it "today" and removed it and decided finders keepers on it since they didn't return it to AAMCO either.
"Should I tell AAMCO about it?"
I guess you could, but since someone else now has it what's the point other than to let them know that it happened and have them ask for it back. But you no longer have it so why bother.
"What are the chances it could have got caught on a belt and broke off and something happening to my car?"
I guess as much as you backing out of your driveway and getting hit by another car, maybe slightly more. Now that it's been removed there is no chance though so I guess the car is still running fine.
I suppose what I'm getting at is that whether AAMCO was your first choice or not, they were there to do the job when you needed it done and in the time frame that you had to do it in. That unfortunately is the downside for you and the reason that larger places like this are in business. You can also look at your experience as if at least they were able to get you back on the road within your required timeframe. That's why Jiffy Lube stays in business, there are many cheaper places to get your oil changed, but they aren't always as convenient or fast and fit everyones timeframes as Jiffy Lube would.
Of course none of this was in your original question above, just brought up in your follow up posts. That's why I posted this part at the bottom. Good luck with the car and finding a good mechanic is like finding a doctor that you trust.

Thanks. Maybe I will use these two shop repairs as an excuse to get a new SUV![]()
