If you look at your usage chart which is on your bill you can see what you used this month versus last year at the same time. One thing that no one at CPS wants you to know is during the summer they raise the surge charge to the extreme. If you would normally have a 200 bill, in the summer you will have a 300 bill just because of the surcharges. They advertise six cents a kilowatt hour but that is before surcharge which takes it up to 10 cents. I am not sure but I think if you do not live in the city it is higher? I guess they figured if the phone company could do it they can too! Hopefully when the second coal plant comes on line they will knock the surcharges down?
