Thread: Low vs High water flow

Question Low vs High water flow

Someone once told me that fish poop more if they are exercising in a high-current tank rather than if they were in a low current tank. That doesn't make very much sense because wouldn't the food be converted to energy rather than poop? Also, I have very very low flow in my 55 gallon FOWLER tank. Do you think I should get some kind of powerhead to increase the flow?

Thats funny, you are right to quesion such an odd statement, because it is not true. In a FOWLR you dont not need much flow, but it is nice to have enough flow to keep detrius from settling. If you ever plan to get any type of corals you will want to invest in Powerheads or some other form.

For the price a Hydor Koralia would do wonders. I think they fish like the higher current. I have a puffer that for whatever reason LOVES to swim RIGHT INTO 1200 GPH. They are such bad swimmers, bet she adores it!

Our 110G FOWLER has 2 Koralia 4's + mag 18 return pump. The fish love it. They play in flow.
