I had a new sump built (thanks Ace!!!) and didnt have him drill it because I was unsure where I wanted it drilled.
I am going to be running an external skimmer. I was thinking I was going to drill it on the side where the water drains in but I have got a few responses that will take out alot of things that my refugium in the center will "need". I thought that skimmers take out phosphates, chaeto/deep sand bed in the refugium breaks down nitrates/nitrites.
Also, I am going to run a calcium reactor and was going to do the on the return side. Will it matter if I run them all into my return area instead of doing one on one end and one on the other end? I am wanting to upgrade my skimmer to a gravity fed one (turboflotor 5000 shorty) in the future but have a PM Bullet now. I have a 1100 gph iwaki that is my return pump. I would still have enough flow to go into the left/drain side to flow throught the refugium in the center I think. ?? but thought I might check what you guys think before I do either way.
Is this just a matter of choice or is there reasoning behind the placement? I am getting to the point where I have to get it drilled this week to set everything up.
