Default wanted - tank with strange footprint

looking for a tank with one of the following footprints (or close to it).

48x18x12, 36x18x12 or just something with an 18 inch wide footprint. i want a shallow tank so that if i decide to try the more difficult to keep corals, ill have enough light to feed them.

im also open to suggestions. since im going to be on the second floor, id like to keep the tank under 55 gallons to be safe. im going to check out the blue prints and see how sturdy it actually is and base my decision off of that ultimatly.

ive had multiple 55 gallon tanks in a 2nd story condo before, but they were spread out. also that building was built less than 3 years prior to me moving into it.

has anyone had any experience with a 75 gallon or larger tank on a 2nd story dwelling? im just really worried that im going to put too much of a load on the floor :(

the place im moving into has already said i can have a fish tank and there would be no pet deposit required . now its just a matter of figuring out what size tank i want to do.

I have a 75g with a 30g fuge, upstairs. Trick is my aparetments were built last year, and they are not cheaply built by any stretch of the means.
55x8=440 lbs. Any apartment should be able to with stand that.
75x8=600 lbs. Meh, still should be fairly decent.
105x8=840 lbs, getting a little dicey at this point.

I would say a setup larger than this would not be a good idea. If you are worried, have the length of the tank along a wall.

Go with a 45g then. That's what I have right now. It's 36inches long, 18inches wide, and 16inches tall. It's a good size starter tank and is not very tall.

Yes, a 45g breeder. Great tank for a small reef tank.

I learned in physics that the weight of an object is dispered evenly throughout the stand. I'd say find out which direction the floor joists are going and lay the tank perpendicular to them. 38 gal tanks are made by oceanic and aren't cheap. Now if i only learned how to spell in college.

fish4life, thanks for the information. clone has a 38g oceanic for sale for 40$! i was about to jump on it when someone else said they had a 45 breeder for sale. im still checking my finances to see if i could possibly afford both, though id only be able to set up one for now
