    Default closed loop suggestions

ok so im gonna upgrade my CL pump

i already have a 1200gph pump hooked up that is an iwaki

i have a 2" intake drilled already so im good on the intake

for outputs i have 2 1 in bulkheads that tee off w/ locline so i have that so far but im thinking about bringing pipe up from the back over the surface of the water and putting some additional outputs up there and putting an oceans motion in to direct the flow at random

    however...

the tank is 60x18 and 21 in deep

should i use a dart or bump it up? i have alot of LR and want to be able to move all the water

any other ideas on what i should do ?

What kinda Ocean Motions are you thinking of getting? A 4-way? A 4-way would work out on the Dart but not the 1200gph Iwaki. Of course a 4-way would require a good amount of plumbing....that is if your up to the challenge

oh im good at plumbing now i hard plumbed this tank thats why when i change it im doin it right

and the iwaki is gonna become my return right now i just have a 1000gph rio that prolly needs a break
or should i get something a bit stronger maybe the snapper i have two overflows one in each corner with dursos that flow thru a 1" bulkhead so i want to get max flow because im starting to get red slime in my fuge because the flow is non existant

as far as which OM im thinking about the 4 way unless anyone else has a more economical solution to creating ocilating(sp?) flow. on my old bowfront i had a quiet one 3000 pushing thru a scwd and i had a deep output on one side and a shallow on the other and it rolled the water pretty well

Not sure if you seen it but check out www.savko.com for fittings and ball valves

I had a old Rio on a tank and after I upgraded it, I turned it into a utility pump (live rock bin).

Is your fuge inline with your sump? (I.E. drain area -> skimmer area -> fuge -> return area)? Flow might cause the cyno to build up in the fuge, but I'm not sure. You have a tank similar to the one I'm setting up. I'm going to be using a Dart for the return. I was kicking around the idea of a Snapper but the Dart is only $30 more. Plus if its too much flow, you can put a valve on the exit side of the pump to reduce flow (by reducing the flow, you subsequently reduce the power consumption too). I read on Reef Central that the Snapper is the same motor and housing as the Dart. It just uses a different impellar. So if you own a Snapper, you could spend roughly $30 to upgrade it to a Dart.

The 4-way is really the only common closed loop oscillating device I have seen. The SCWD wouldn't work too well on a tank that size....unless you use a bunch of them. Some other options could be Sea Swirls/Wavy Sea on returns. But those add up too

Now I'm not to sure about this but I thought the whole idea was for bad stuff to grow int he fuge instead of the tank.

may tank is set up where one overflow drops into the wet dry and the other drops into the fuge then the fuge drops into the wet dry res where my skimmer takes out too.

im getting slime in the tank and in the fuge . i havent changed any thing and all of my parameters are perfect a,n,n= all zero, alk 10dkh, calc 440, ph 8.3, sg 1.0235

im not gonna use a scwd on this tank it was almost too small on my 72 bowfront

one of the hands at river city was telling me about some stuff that might work when i was in there a mth ago ill have to make the trip and see if i can get the info again

im not mad about slime in the fuge its that tank slime im mad about its getting so bad that its covering the bases of my zoa polyps and that makes me concerned
