Do as much research as you can on the timeshare. Site worth interest is www.timeshares.com They are reputable, and you probably can haggle with them on price, since they are a larger entity.

do you really go often enough, and to the same place to justify the cost? i mean, you never know where the good snow is going to be from year to year. it would be a drag to get in on a TS, and then they get no snow next year. and now you can't afford to take a ski trip because your spending all your money on a TS where there's no snow! call me a pessimist(most people do, at least those who know me), i prefer to think of it as being prepared for the worst case scenario. just my thoughts, i've never owned a TS.

Where are you thinking about skiing? I have skiied since I could walk (seriously) and it does change. If you go to the Rockies (Keystone, Breck) the amount of snowfall is always great. It depends on temp and lighting etc. Sometimes the snow will melt from the sun and ice over as it gets later in the day. Timeshares are fine, as long as you deal with a trusted source. That's why I said to research the bejeezus out of it. If you do go to CO, I recommend Copper mountain. The snow is usually perfect all day because the sun always hits just right. Copper is a locals kind of place. I lived in Denver for awhile and I miss being able to go skiing whenever I wanted, for the most part. . . Oh yeah, don't confuse Copper Mountain with ski Cooper.

yes i was thinking in either the winter park area or near beaver creek or vail if in colorado now if i was in utah i would go in the park city area because you can always make the drive to brighton and if you havent skiied there then you are missing out.

some folks cannot justify the cost and some can. from the people that i have spoken to those who are in a spot similar to a beach dont like it because they get tired of it. as i see it in a ski area i dont think resale would be very difficult im pretty sure that skiing and or snowboarding is going to go out of style. from what i have heard and read if you know that you can set aside a certian week during the year the best thing to do is get a fixed week not a floating where you fight the others in the share for the same date that everyone wants.

i dont mind skiing i have always enjoyed it winter park and utah are my favorite places but i havent been everywhere. and if my book keeping is correct from the last trip i took i would actually start saving money the second year i went. alot of the places taht i have looked also say to make sure that the maintance fee is resonable ie about a nights stay in a cabin that is similar to the one you are looking at that way it pays it self off instead of digging you a deeper hole.

as far as snow fall goes the only time i have skiied over rocks and in slush was in NM and i hear that is pretty common. i know that some places get slammed some years and some just do ok but i have never had a problem with a lack of snow its always too much which is nice.

but since my future wife is going to be a teacher and im seriously considering it... an early jan slot in a 2 bedroom TS doesnt sound to bad to me

Wow you lived in beaver creek? I lived off Wadsworth and Yale, southwest by Bear Creek and Columbine. You know where that is? Lakewood?
